All bets, unfortunately, are off
Kay Bailey ain't running (for guv, that is). The new question - can Strayhorn/Rylander/one tough grandma beat Perry? And would she be better?

Well, she'd definitely be a better guv than Perry, as to whether she's a better candidate against him than Kay Bailey, I'm hesitant. But you do have to give her credit for a great line:

Carole Keeton Strayhorn stood in blistering heat Saturday to declare her candidacy for governor, promising a white-hot campaign against Gov. Rick Perry leading to the March 7 Republican primary.
"Now is the time to replace this do-nothin' drugstore cowboy with one tough grandma," Strayhorn said, invoking her campaign-tested self-description.
"I am not a weak leadin', ethics ignorin', pointin' the finger at everyone blamin', special session callin', public school slashin', slush fund spendin', toll road buildin', special interest panderin', rainy day fund raidin', fee increasin', no property tax cuttin', promise breakin', do-nothin' Rick Perry phony conservative."
That's a great story. Waiting for more. » »
